PCS works with elected representatives from several political parties who are willing to take up issues of concern to our members on a regular basis. In order to manage this relationship in an organised way, we have parliamentary groups at Westminster and Holyrood (Edinburgh) and, since 2005, a cross-party group in the National Assembly for Wales. The group brings together Assembly Members (AMs) from different parties who meet with PCS representatives around three times a year to be briefed on the union's current concerns.
Leanne Wood chaired the group from its establishment until she was elected Leader of Plaid Cymru in March 2012. She was succeeded by Julie Morgan, who continued in the role until she was appointed by Mark Drakeford as a minister in the Welsh Government in December 2018.
The current chair is Bethan Sayed AM (Plaid Cymru, South West Wales) and the vice-chair is Mike Hedges AM (Labour, Swansea East). Other members include Rhianon Passmore (Labour, Islwyn) and Nick Ramsay (Conservative, Monmouth).
Minutes of previous group meetings and other relevant documents are available on the National Assembly website.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, 11 February 2020 between 12.30 and 1.30 pm in Dining Room 2, Tŷ Hywel, National Assembly. PCS reps or members who have items that they would like the union to raise should email firstname.lastname@example.org or ring the PCS Wales office on 02920 666363.
