More staff are being recruited to the civil service than at any other time in the last 5 years. The majority of these staff are being recruited as apprentices and/or at PCS grades. Most employers make facilities available for PCS representatives to address induction meetings.
It is absolutely essential that all branches make arrangements to attend induction meetings for new staff, to give a presentation about joining PCS and to sign up new members to the union.
The guide below gives advice and guidance to branches about how to conduct induction sessions. The notes are supported by a PowerPoint presentation which summarise the main points and can be adapted for use at local level depending on the
circumstances in your branch.
