Get organising for future action!

The consultative ballot is the perfect opportunity to get organising for future action, particularly in areas without a live strike ballot.

We’re asking tens of thousands of PCS members right across the UK to have their say on the union’s strategy for the national campaign, and many have already voted, but this is the perfect opportunity to get organised in our workplaces for any future action we may need to take.

Tory anti-trade union laws make it difficult for unions and workers to take industrial action, and a few PCS ballots have fallen short of the threshold in recent times. If we are to take effective action going forward we need to ensure that as many members as possible are voting in strike ballots.

Organising around the consultative ballot gives us the chance to speak to members, encourage them to vote, tell us they’ve already voted and get involved in the union’s campaigns. Branches are encouraged to make sure we have the correct contact information for members and up-do-date address details, and that members are aware of the importance of voting in ballots and elections.

Whilst we have already gained significant concessions from the government on pay, the fight is far from over and future action may be needed on 2023/24 pay and beyond. Speak to your members in your offices and workplaces, hold branch meetings and make sure we get the vote out – not just for the consultative ballot but for all future ballots. This is especially important in areas like DFT, where management has already made an unsatisfactory pay offer for 2023/24.
