PCS campaign gets results on pay at the Home Office

Civil servants working at the Home Office (including Border Force Officers and Passport Officers) are to receive up to a 13% pay rise after a campaign by the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union.

On top of the £1,500 cost-of-living payment for 2022/23 negotiated by the union, all employees will be awarded pay rises of at least 4.5% for 2023/24, rising from 5.2% to 13.1% for the lowest paid.

The union is continuing its national campaign over pay, pensions, redundancy terms and job security, pausing only to allow for negotiations with individual government departments on pay.

PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka said: “This significant achievement for our members comes as result of their determination and resilience.

“But it’s only the first department. As we begin negotiations in other departments, the government should take note of our members’ resolve and that we stand ready to ballot and strike again if the government fails to deliver.”
