News
PCS is launching fresh strike ballots from 20 March of 124,125 in 186 employers across the civil service and public sector so our members can continue to fight for fair pay, pensions justice and job security as part of our national campaign.
The government has announced via a written ministerial statement that public service pensions, including the Civil Service Pension, will increase by 10.1% from April 2023.
From April a change will take effect in the salary threshold which determines the rate of employee contribution in the Civil Service Pension Scheme.
The government has suffered a ‘bruising series of defeats’ in the House of Lords, which defied government plans to severely curtail the right to protest.
PCS and 5 other unions have brought a judicial review of the government’s decision not to reduce members’ civil service pensions contributions which was heard at the High Court from 31 January to 3 February.
