Branches invited to make nominations for GS and AGS elections

Branches are encouraged to hold an extraordinary general meeting to make one nomination each for the general secretary and assistant general secretary positions.

Just over two weeks ago (4 September), the process to elect our next general secretary (GS) and assistant general secretary (AGS) got underway. This comes after Mark Serwotka's announcement earlier this year that he will retire as general secretary.

Branches are invited to nominate one person for each position. They can call an extraordinary general meeting to make a nomination.

A candidate must have been nominated by at least 15 PCS branches to run in the elections. This applies to both the GS and AGS elections.

Nominations can be made by branches, called by their respective branch executive committee, in line with the union’s rules. Branches should also give at least 14 days' notice of meetings and include the meeting agenda in the nomination.

Nomination forms must be submitted (by one of the branch officials present at the meeting and named on the branch declaration) as either a Word or scanned document to theresab@pcs.org.uk

Completed nomination forms also must be received by no later than 5.00pm on Monday 16 October 2022

The ballot of members will then open on Thursday 9 November and close on Thursday 14 December at noon

Further information – including instructions for nominations, election regulations and the nomination form – are available below and on the PCS elections webpage.
