Get involved in the Proud EGM 2024

To improve engagement with our LGBT+ members and to take forward a motion passed at conference, the Proud National Committee (PNC) will hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on Tuesday 13 February 2024, 6.00 - 7.30pm on Zoom. 

At our annual conference this year, motion A293 was passed, instructing the national executive committee to ask all members to update their equality data on our membership database and register for membership of Proud and the other national equality networks. LGBT+ members were then to be invited to an Extraordinary General Meeting to debate the future of Proud, as well as allowing for the election of a new Proud National Committee which was initially scheduled for 13 December 2023 but suspended due to ambiguity in the election regulations.

A new election timetable and a date for the EGM has been presented and agreed at the December national executive committee meeting. We are now inviting LGBT+ members who have not done so previously, to register for the new Proud Network and submit their nomination for the election process. LGBT+ members registering before noon on 20 December will be eligible to nominate themselves for any of the twelve positions:

• Chair
• Secretary
• Organising (Campaigns & Comms Officer)
• Organiser (Learning & Regional Devolved Nations Networks Officer)
• Organiser (Membership & Admin Officer)
• Treasurer
• Women’s Representative (chair of women’s section)
• Trans Representative 
• Disability Representative
• Black Members Representative
• Young Members Representative
• Bisexual Members Representative

LGBT+ members registering to the new Proud Network after noon on 20 December, but before noon on 1 February will have the right to participate in the voting process.
