Join Ukraine solidarity demonstration in London

PCS is supporting a large demonstration in London in solidarity with Ukrainians on 24 February – the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of the country.

The Ukraine Solidarity Campaign is calling for a mass show of solidarity with Ukraine on the anniversary of the Russian invasion on 24 February.

The march will start at 1:30pm at Speakers Corner in Hyde Park and will end in Trafalgar Square, where a rally and vigil will take place at around 4pm.

The demonstration has been called by Ukraine/London EuroMaidan and is also being supported by the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine and Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine.

Members are encouraged to attend and to bring trade union banners and join the demonstration’s labour movement bloc. After the march, members can attend a social event where they can listen to eyewitness reports from recent delegations to Ukraine.

At the PCS annual delegate conference in 2023, a motion was passed which mandated PCS to send a delegation to Ukraine. That delegation, which included assistant general secretary John Moloney, visited Ukraine between 11 to 17 November.

In a blog John Moloney reported on the solidarity delegation, which met trade unionists, visited workplaces and helped deliver aid.

“Every trade unionist, and in fact everybody we talked to, expressed their gratitude to the union for sending the delegation, our presence being a sign to them that the world had not forgotten Ukraine,” wrote John.
