Launch of the Our Work Matters Campaign

Work as a cleaner, security guard, porter, maintenance worker, caterer or in another facilities role? Join the launch of the Our Work Matters campaign on 17 May.

PCS is working with other trade unions via the TUC to launch the Our Work Matters campaign. Join the online campaign launch to learn about how you can win pay rises and improve your working conditions.

You’ll hear from cleaners, security guards, porters and caterers who are campaigning for better pay and fairer treatment at work. And we’ll talk about how we can work together to improve working life for all outsourced workers.

Many facilities jobs have been outsourced. This means that you are not employed by the government departments that you work in. Instead, you’re employed by facilities management companies and treated like second class citizens, undervalued, under-appreciated and underpaid.

That’s why the TUC has launched the Our Work Matters campaign. By taking action in our trade unions, outsourced workers up and down the country are already winning better pay and better treatment at work. From caterers at a government department who won a 12% pay rise, to hospital laundry workers who won a 17% pay rise and a transfer to NHS working conditions.

Register for the online call at 7pm on Wednesday 17 May for the campaign launch. The call can be translated to other languages if you say which language you need when registering.

This is your chance to shape this campaign from the very beginning. So join the campaign for justice for outsourced facilities workers, because Our Work Matters.
