Membership fee waivers

You may be entitled to a waiver of your subscription fees if you go on to reduced or nil pay, and you will still be able to use our services and member benefits.

If you are a PCS member and you are about to go on reduced or nil pay due to maternity/adoption leave, carers leave, sickness absence or if you have gone on a career break, let us know as soon as possible as you could be entitled to a waiver of your PCS membership fees.

The waiver will not affect your membership and you will be classed as a full member and entitled to all the benefits, but you do not have to pay any subscription fees whilst on the waiver.

To apply for the waiver please contact the PCS support centre on membership@pcs.org.uk. You will need to let them know the date that your reduced salary starts and the date you intend to return to work.

When you do return to work please check that your membership record is still up to date. It could be that you return on fewer hours or a reduced salary and this could affect the amount of membership fees you pay. The best way to check and update this is on PCS Digital.

If you feel you are not being treated fairly at work because of the leave you are going to take or have taken, talk to your PCS rep right away.

You can also access PCS Knowledge, our members-only online resource for information and guidance on your rights during your leave.
