Older workers: promoting dignity, celebrating resilience

An online meeting open to all PCS members will be held on Friday 13 October, with guest speakers on older workers, women’s equality and migrants’ rights.

On 1 October the United Nations International Day of Older Persons celebrates the contribution of older people to the world through their work, wisdom and solidarity with younger generations.

PCS’s Associate and Retired Members group (ARMs) has today announced an event open to all PCS members with the overarching theme “Resilience of older persons in a changing world”. Older people face specific challenges and may also have special opportunities. But all parts of society have a role in promoting older people’s rights, dignity and wellbeing.

Guest speakers are:

  • Mal Mutton, Deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry and member of ARMs
  • Debbie de Spon, communications director at Women Against State Pension Inequality
  • Migrant rights campaigner (to be confirmed)

The event takes place via Zoom on Friday 13 October 2023 from 12.30pm to 2.00pm. The event is open to all PCS members as the theme is relevant to working members and their families, as well as to partially retired and associate members.

If you would like to join the event, please contact Jacquie Hadfield, ARMs Vice Chair: vice-chair@arms-pcs.org.uk for the Zoom link.
