Pay ballot to launch at National Museums Liverpool

PCS is launching a postal ballot early in the new year at the National Museums Liverpool, which is now the only employer out of over 200 covered by the civil service pay remit guidance that has not paid staff a £1,500 one-off cost-of-living payment.

The successful PCS national campaign of industrial action won the one-off payment, but National Museums Liverpool is yet to pay it.

PCS is balloting all members at NML from 3-31 January on their willingness to take further targeted action. And we want all members to vote yes to force their employer to pay them what they deserve.

While PCS has secured pay increases in line with inflation for many of its members, the fact remains that a significant number of PCS members have seen years of wage stagnation made worse by the cost-of-living crisis. And NML members are also missing out on the £1,500 cost-of-living payment for 2022/23.

Many NML staff are among the lowest paid workers in the civil service and public sector and are at the sharp end of the cost-of living crisis.

NML management say that the decision from the Cabinet office was unexpected, and they had not budgeted for the extra pay. But NML staff deserve the same pay rise as their colleagues across the UK. National Museums Liverpool must secure this essential payment to all staff.

PCS is clear that no member will be left behind.
