PCS responds to Rwanda flight announcement
PCS has welcomed the announcement by prime minister Rishi Sunak that no refugee flights to Rwanda will take off before the general election.
PCS Acting President Martin Cavanagh announced the news to our annual delegate conference yesterday, prompting loud cheers and applause.
PCS Head of Bargaining Paul O'Connor commented: “PCS has campaigned against this inhumane policy since its inception, so we’re delighted it looks like it’s history.
“It was our members who would have had to implement the scheme, and it’s our members whose determination helped defeat it.
“We call on the new government to work with us and support our Safe Passage policy.”
