PCS at TUC Congress in Liverpool

Our delegation, led by PCS President Fran Heathcote, is heading to Liverpool this weekend for the 155th TUC Congress.

The PCS delegates are planning to speak on a number of motions when the event gets underway at the Arena and Convention Centre at 4pm on Sunday (10). We are holding a fringe meeting at 12.45pm on Tuesday (12) which will discuss how the trade union movement can take forward the campaign for refugees’ rights. It will also highlight our safe passage campaign, which calls for a safe and legal means for refugees to claim asylum without resort to the dangerous Channel crossing in small boats and free from the exploitation by those that profit from it.

Our general secretary Mark Serwotka is due to speak to a motion on investment in public services.

Fran is due to speak on a motion on social security, and deputy president Martin Cavanagh on a motion on pay review bodies. And vice president Kevin McHugh is due to speak on a motion on fair taxation.

Follow updates from PCS on social media with the hashtag #TUC23 for Congress which runs until Wednesday lunchtime. We will be posting regularly to our Facebook page and Twitter feed.

We will also provide regular updates in the news section of our website.

You will be able to watch debates live through the TUC feed.

Find out more on the Congress website and you can follow the motions through a TUC Congress mini site.
