PCS A to Z: L for legal services

In the A to Z of benefits of joining the union, L is for our legal services.

PCS offers a wide range of money-saving legal services for our members.

Members can call a free legal helpline which is available from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday. It’s available for PCS members and their families.  You can get advice on family issues, consumer law, criminal law, probate and any other non-work related matters.

We have arranged an exclusively priced conveyancing service with a leading firm of solicitors for buying or selling a house and a free will writing service.

As a PCS member you can access our personal injury scheme which covers members and their partners who have an accident, injury or suffer ill-health or experience medical negligence within the UK. Phone our helpline on 0800 328 3255

PCS members who work closely with the public can purchase specially priced criminal legal insurance.

PCS members can nominate a family member or friend to receive a death benefit if they die while still in employment.  It is applicable after six months’ membership and in 2023 the amount payable is £1808.40.

And of course if you need legal advice relating to a problem at work your workplace rep will be able to get help from PCS’s own legal team.
