Supervisory Allowances to stay until January in MOD

Progress on allowances from Trade Union intervention.

PCS met with the MOD pay team on 23 August and discussed the supervisory allowances. MOD have told us that they are deferring the introduction of these changes until January 2024. This must be welcomed by all sides as a constructive measure to allow us to negotiate further on your behalf.

The department has said that in principle this is the “right decision from an organisational point of view”.  PCS believes that there should be full and adequate training for all roles and if there is a requirement for supervision then there must be consideration of the use of promotion to provide the necessary level of supervision. This allows proper accountability and control in the working environment with clear reporting lines in place.

If you are in receipt of the allowances, you will get your pay rise in September and you will keep your current allowances at least until January 2024. This is great news for the 425 people who would be affected by the proposed change, brought about by consistent trade union intervention.
