OCS security staff to strike for 4 days over pay

The employer’s latest pay offer is only 38p above the national minimum wage.

PCS members working as security officers on the OCS HMCTS security contract are to take four days strike action in September.

OCS boasts accreditation as a Living Wage Employer, yet its latest pay offer is only 38p above the national minimum wage and moves staff further from the Real Living Wage than last year.

The strike action will significantly disrupt OCS’s operations, will impact on the running of courts and may result in the company being fined for missed targets.

The strike action is planned for 22, 25, 27 and 29 September.

PCS general secretary, Mark Serwotka, said: "Members are outraged by the disgraceful actions of OCS in tabling a derisory and insulting pay offer. Our members will not pay for a cost-of-living crisis not of their making.

“Shamefully, OCS have not responded to PCS since the result of the ballot was notified on 31 August. This strike action is avoidable and OCS must now act to table an improved offer or face action that will severely disrupt their operations.”
