PCS launches Newcastle strike ballot ahead of protest tomorrow
Union continues campaign to reinstate sacked reps Rachel Farmer, Gordon Askew and Joel Hamilton
Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union members working for HMRC at Benton Park View in Newcastle have launched a consultative ballot for strike action in defence of three sacked reps.
The news comes ahead of a demonstration tomorrow to support Rachel Farmer, Gordon Askew and Joel Hamilton, who were unfairly dismissed earlier this year.
The rally takes place at the main gates at Benton Park View, Longbenton NE7 7NE from 12noon tomorrow (November 6).
PCS general secretary Fran Heathcote said: “No trade union rep should lose their job for carrying out their union duties.
“HMRC has the opportunity to end this dispute before it starts by doing the right thing and reinstating Rachel, Gordon and Joel.”
HMRC bosses have been warned unless the three workers are re-instated, a formal dispute will begin.
