PCS responds to the illegal bombing of Iran
The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) condemns the bombing in Iran and warns of the severe consequences for civilians and regional stability.
PCS General Secretary Fran Heathcote said:
“I am utterly appalled by the illegal bombing of Iran and the catastrophic impact on civilians across the region. The world has seen the devasting impact of such western imperial intervention in the Middle East and this programme of attacks is an example of failure; failure to learn from the past and a failure to allow the Iranian people to have a voice.
“Our government must not support US-led military aggression. We cannot allow our armed forces to becoming embroiled in a hostile illegal war.
“The world stands at the precipice of war, we must do all we can as a movement to demand peace, to demand justice and demand freedom for Iran, its people and the region.”
The union is calling for urgent international efforts to de-escalate tensions and prioritise diplomacy, peace, and the protection of civilian lives.
