Future of the Transition Sites

DWP has announced that it will not close any of the transitional sites before the end of March 2022 at the earliest. As many transition sites had been told that their site was to close in 2021, it is welcome that DWP will not now be closing any transition sites in 2021, However the announcements also makes clear that the sites remain transitional and not part of DWP’s long term estates strateg

Risk assessments for extension of services in jobcentres - checklist for reps

PCS has strongly opposed DWP management’s plans to rush ahead and extend Jobcentre services.  This is even more unsafe with the current rise in Covid-19 cases and the increased risk of the spread of the virus.  DWP should not be contributing to the spread of Covid-19 in our communities by unnecessarily calling claimants into our offices for appointments when support can fully be delivered safely to the public remotely by phone or digitally.

PCS raises concerns regarding bringing more claimants into Jobcentres

The group executive committee (GEC) is frustrated that DWP chose to publish guidance on “Bringing Customers Safely into our Jobcentres” on the afternoon of 8 September 2020. It was done before we had met with senior management tand althought we were provided with a copy of the guidance on the day of publication, we had no opportunity to discuss or influence the contents.
