Do rises in pay cause inflation?

Reading or listening to certain sections of the media, the answer would be yes. Certainly, the UK Government (led by a multimillionaire) and the Bank of England (led by a man on over £500,000 a year) want to bear down on wages and employment to bring down inflation.

So, are you responsible for inflation or are the energy companies taking advance of a rigged market, or is it the handful of big agri-businesses that dominate the world food market more to blame? Are Unite the union right to say that we are the victims of "greedflation" and that excess profits are to blame?

To learn more about this the PCS Economists Group, a group of professional economists who are PCS members, are giving a briefing on Teams, see link below, to set out the facts and economic theory concerning inflation. Please attend and have your questions answered.
