Complete the PCS Housing Survey
Housing is a big issue for many PCS members. The cost of renting a home or paying a mortgage takes a huge chunk of workers’ wages.
Across the country the proportion of workers’ incomes going on housing costs has risen in recent years. At the sharp end, that has resulted in record numbers of families facing homelessness, and rough sleeping has more than doubled since 2010.
PCS is surveying all of our members in England to better understand the pressures you face with regard to housing. This will inform our bargaining with the employer, and campaigning around social security and housing policy.
You should receive an email with the survey link today (26). As agreed with our devolved areas, this survey is only going to members living in England, since housing is a devolved issue. Devolved areas may conduct their own survey at a later date.
Home ownership: a pipe dream
Many young people cannot afford to move out of the family alone, and the prospect of owning their own home feels like a pipe dream, while increasing numbers of people are struggling with rising rental or mortgage costs.
Whatever your housing circumstances we want to hear from you. So please look out for the PCS housing survey in your email inbox and respond.
This is a short survey that will not take you more than a few minutes to complete, and your answers will not be shared with anyone outside PCS.
