Northern Ireland workers are being left behind on employment rights
As the bill stalls in the NI Executive the window to enact the legislation in the current NI Assembly mandate is closing.
The bill would introduce basic protections for insecure workers, improve work and life balance and strengthen workers' voices through trade unions. These rights are already enshrined in law in Great Britain and Ireland.
The bill has strong cross-community public support, with 8 out of 10 voters backing it. PCS and workers across N Ireland are demanding an end to the blockage at the executive and for the bill to progress through the NI Assembly. The clock is ticking and it is vital that you add your voice to that demand. Please complete our e-action to lobby MLAs. It takes less than a minute.
Northern Ireland has already fallen behind Great Britain in employment rights. That gap will widen further if this legislation does not pass. Important equality-based protections like paid neonatal care leave will not come into effect.
