Support the MHCLG strikers taking targeted action
PCS calls for talks with Steve Reed, the new secretary of state for housing, communities and local government, as our dispute continues with targeted action this week.
Our members in Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government took well-supported strike action last week with busy picket lines on Monday in Birmingham, Darlington, Edinburgh, Hemel Hempstead, London, Leeds and Manchester.
Angela Rayner, former the secretary of state for housing, communities and local government resigned from government on Friday lunchtime and had failed to engage with members in her department. PCS hopes her successor will want to swiftly enter into negotiations to end the dispute over office closures, attendance polices and recruitment strategy.
The action has now switched to targeted action which will see over 170 staff walk out until 25 September. Please support members who will be on a picket from 8-10.30am on Wednesday (10) outside the MHCLG office, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1DN. A further picket will also be taking place on Tuesday (16) outside MHCLG London’s office in 2 Marsham Street, SW1P 4DF from 8-10:30am.
