Victory for CIS Security staff at the National Gallery
CIS Security has agreed to recognise PCS and our right to represent workers at the Gallery.
After six months of deliberations, CIS Security have agreed to uphold union recognition at the National Gallery (NG), meaning we will not need to progress with a claim at the Employment Tribunal.
This is a significant victory for PCS members at the National Gallery because it means CIS Security recognises our right to represent workers on collective bargaining related matters including:
- pay
- working conditions
- health and safety.
As a next step, PCS reps will be meeting with the director of people services at CIS on 3 September to begin discussions on how we can work together.
Our main priority will be to update the existing recognition agreement, with the aim of having the agreement finalised and signed in the coming weeks.
In the interim, we will continue to raise any ongoing issues being experienced by security staff at the National Gallery including:
- the lack of adequate toilet facilities for female security
- the disparity in facilities between security staff and core NG staff
- any ongoing issues with management.
