Conference day 3: rousing support for Benton Park View campaign.
The final morning of PCS conference heard motions on tackling violence against disabled people, hybrid working, rousing support for sacked Benton Park View reps and from guest speaker John McDonnell MP.
As guest speaker, PCS parliamentary group chair John McDonnell told delegates that: “We’ve had enough of 14 years of pay cuts, we want pay settlements now. We won’t stand by and accept poverty pay to exist for our members.”
Motion A392 resolved to pressure HMRC to resolve the Benton Park View dispute and ensure the three sacked reps are reinstated.
Motion A107 called on the NEC to promote Islamophobia Awareness Month in November and also awareness against antisemitism and to promote unity with Jewish people and discrimination against any groups.
Motion A37 described hybrid working as a national attack on our members and called for the Labour government to be challenged over retaining this Tory policy.
PCS assistant general secretary John Moloney presented the finance report to conference.
