Get involved: your voice, your regional AGM

Branches in English regions can submit motions, send delegates and nominate activists to form part of regional committees and join in regional annual general meetings. With deadlines approaching, it’s the perfect time to get involved where you live

Regional committees are open to nominations from branches for any group or branch representative working in the region. Each branch can send one delegate and observers to the AGM, and national branches or those with workplaces in more than one region may take part in multiple AGMs. In contested elections, only delegates employed in the region and attending the AGM can vote for their branch.

Each regional AGM takes place during the upcoming months. By taking part, you can ensure your branch and members voices are represented in discussions on local community organising and regionally specific campaigns. Guest speakers from PCS and local community groups are often invited to address the delegates and reps can catch up with the work of activists from different workplaces in the region.

Although regional committees aren’t decision-making bodies, they support the work of the national executive committee, strengthen connections with the wider trade union movement in the area, and support community initiatives such as anti-racist campaigning and local TUC events and festivals. Those interested in standing should speak to their branch about being nominated, and all nominations must be made at a properly convened branch meeting in line with PCS rules.

Full details for each region, including nomination forms, AGM dates, constitutions and election regulations, are available on PCS Knowledge.
