Islamophobia Awareness Month 2025
PCS is proud to be supporting the awareness month that is now in its 13th year.
At this year’s annual delegate conference, PCS members backed a motion opposing the rise of Islamophobia and supporting Islamophobia Awareness Month (IAM), held every November.
The national Black members’ committee is proud to lead this work as part of our union’s ongoing commitment to anti-racism.
The 2025 theme, “Flip the Script,” challenges stereotype and highlights the impact of Islamophobia in workplaces and communities, at a time when incidents of Islamophobia are at a record high in the UK, fuelled by social media, inflammatory anti-migration rhetoric and geopolitical flashpoints such as the ongoing situation in Gaza.
For many Muslim members, discrimination, harassment, and unfair treatment remain daily realities. PCS is clear: Islamophobia is not just an attack on individuals, but an attack on equality, dignity, and solidarity.
