National campaign strike levy refund option launched

Members now have the option to claim a refund of payments made via the strike levy scheme, which funds sustained targeted action taken for our national campaign.

The NEC is fulfilling its promise to members by enabling them to reclaim levy contributions made in the six-month period from September 2024 to February 2025. 

Members can either claim their refund or leave their contribution in the national campaign levy fund which remains ring-fenced for future national campaign activity.

The levy was set up to allow PCS to support those who are effectively taking action on behalf of everyone, to place further pressure on the government to reach improved pay deals which benefit all. The scheme has ensured those members suffer no financial detriment due to their action, which has previously helped force the government of the day to make concessions on pay.  This approach allowed us to take targeted action in 2022/2023 which broke the 2% cap, got members a £1,500 cost-of-living payment, and stopped cuts to redundancy terms.

Members who wish to reclaim some or all of the levy payments for the specified period will be able to do so via their PCS Digital account.

Unclaimed money will be used to support any future targeted action taken in support of the national campaign.

How can I claim?

You can claim up to £18 or £30, based on the number of levy payments you made during the qualifying period.

  • Log into your PCS Digital account.
  • Click on the levy refund options icon.
  • Confirm your membership details on the first screen.
  • Update personal, employment, or equality details where possible.
  • Indicate if you want to get involved in PCS activities.
  • Provide or confirm bank details (previous strike pay or direct debit details will be pre-filled if available).
  • Check that the bank account and sort code details you enter are correct. If you enter the wrong details the system will reject your claim.
  • Review your claim, confirm, and submit.
  • You’ll receive an on-screen and email confirmation.
