National Demonstration for Palestine

29 November marks International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, a moment to reaffirm commitment to justice, equality, and human rights.

The demonstration will assemble at Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly.

The situation in Palestine remains dire. In the past two weeks alone, Israel has bombed Gaza, killing at least 252 Palestinians. Homes have been destroyed, families displaced, and humanitarian aid continues to be blocked. These atrocities are not isolated; they are part of a long standing system of oppression.

Israel’s occupation of the West Bank continues unabated, with Palestinian land seized and homes demolished. Over 9,000 Palestinians are being held in Israeli prisons, many subject to torture and degrading treatment. This is not just a conflict, it is an entrenched system of apartheid and colonial rule.

The so-called “peace proposals” put forward by Donald Trump do nothing to address these realities. Instead, they deny Palestinians their right to self-determination, entrenching occupation and injustice. These plans are designed to maintain control, not deliver freedom.

Our own government is far from neutral. Britain continues to arm Israel, supplying weapons that are used to enforce occupation and kill civilians. At the same time, the UK government is trying to suppress the right to protest, targeting those who speak out against these crimes. This is an attack not only on Palestinians but on our democratic freedoms here at home.

This demonstration is about more than words. It is about showing that the labour movement will not turn away from injustice. It is about demanding an end to apartheid, an end to occupation, and an end to Britain’s complicity in these crimes.

PCS general secretary Fran Heathcote said:
“We cannot allow the suffering of the Palestinian people to fade from view. Every day that bombs fall and homes are destroyed is a reminder of why our campaigning matters. Trade unions have a proud tradition of standing against injustice, and that responsibility does not end until Palestine is free. Together, we must keep up the pressure and show that solidarity will not be silenced.”
