Ofgem members vote to renew strike mandate

In the ballot that closed today, almost 93% of members voted for further strike action in the long running dispute.

PCS members in Ofgem have again voted overwhelmingly for strike action in their long-running dispute over pay, jobs, working conditions and industrial relations.

Following previous industrial action under the original mandate, significant progress was made to resolve some areas of the dispute. However, due to delays and protracted negotiations in other key areas, including pay and job security, and the legal time limits imposed on strike mandates, PCS had to seek a new mandate from members to support their negotiations.

On a 68% turnout, 92.77% of members voted ‘YES’ for strike action. This beats the previous ballot result in June 2025, which was 85% for strike action on a 65% turnout.

With this new mandate on the table, PCS has written to Ofgem with deadlines for progress on the pay negotiations. Our members expect their legitimate demands to be met and have made it clear that they are prepared to take further strike action if necessary to achieve those demands.
