PCS calls for flotilla releases and for safe passage into Gaza
Several vessels from the Global Sumud Flotilla, which is attempting to deliver humanitarian aid into Gaza, have been detained by Israeli forces.
As Israel's genocide in Gaza continues, a flotilla set sail from Spain just over a month ago with more than 40 ships and around 500 people on board, including European parliamentarians, lawyers and activists. They intend to break Israel's blockade of Gaza and to deliver food and medical supplies.
Israeli forces have now intercepted several of the vessels and detained those on board, including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg.
PCS general secretary Fran Heathcote said: “It is vital that aid is allowed into Gaza where children are dying of starvation daily.
“That Israeli forces have intercepted the Gaza Solidarity Flotilla and detained those on board, including British citizens, is further proof of the Israeli government’s disregard for the humanity of Palestinians.
“We call on the international community to demand the immediate release of those detained and to allow urgent food and medical supplies into Gaza.”
PCS members are encouraged to complete the e-action by the Global Sumud Flotilla coalition to call on the UK government to protect its citizens and to demand the flotilla safe passage into Gaza.
