PCS members secure improved Pay Offer following dispute with Capita

The members absed at HMS Sultan took sustained collective action which resulted in the improved offer.

Following sustained collective action by PCS members, Capita has made an improved pay offer. PCS members have now voted to accept the offer and end the long-standing dispute.

The action short of strike taken by members had a significant impact on the business and brought the employer back to the negotiating table, allowing an improved agreement to be reached.

By taking action short of strike, members applied sustained pressure on the employer, strengthened the union's negotiating position, and secured significant improvements to the original pay offer. This outcome is a direct result of members acting collectively to protect and improve their pay and conditions.

The pay offer includes a 3% increase to basic pay backdated to August 2025 and another 3% increase from April 2026. The Recruitment and Retention Allowance (RRA) has also been increased by £1,500 and from April 2027 onwards the RRA will automatically increase by the same percentage as the annual Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) pay award.

This agreement delivers meaningful improvements to both pay and the Recruitment and Retention Allowance. Importantly, linking future RRA increases to the annual CBA pay award provides a fair, transparent and sustainable approach, removing the need to negotiate the allowance separately each year.

This outcome shows that when members act together, they can influence negotiations and achieve tangible improvements to their pay and conditions.
