Restructuring the Economy: Towards a New Alternative Strategy
PCS is a member of the Trade Union Co-ordinating Group (TUCG), an alliance of 11 national trade unions, which has just published a new pamphlet, Restructuring the Economy: Towards a New Alternative Strategy.
The pamphlet reflects a number of PCS policies and campaigns in areas such as workers’ rights, public service investment, tax justice, social security, climate action, and artificial intelligence.
This is not a PCS policy document – as it also reflects the priorities and policies of the other 10 TUCG unions, which include the NEU, UCU, RMT and FBU – but it is broadly in line with PCS policy and is a useful resource for activists and members.
As PCS Parliamentary Group Chair John McDonnell MP says in the foreword: “This booklet demonstrates how the wealth and resources of our country can be redistributed and harnessed to tackle the high levels of poverty and inequality in our society and invest in the key public services that form the foundations of a community in which people can enjoy the quality life we all aspire to.”
