Statement on the attack on Manchester synagogue
PCS is horrified by today's horrendous car and knife attack at the Heaton Park synagogue in Greater Manchester.
On the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur, sadly the events in the North West have cast a dark shadow over the community, and act as another reminder of the dangers we face when division and hatred is whipped up in society.
Our deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of those sadly killed in today's attack, and our thoughts and solidarity go to all those affected by these events. We recognise the scenes will come as a terrible shock to many of our members, especially those of Jewish faith.
We offer our wholehearted support to all those impacted, and remind PCS members of the availability of the union's 24-hour racial incidents helpline on 020 7801 2678.
