Two weeks to go in DWP ballot

Hear how you can help get the vote out in the final days of the DWP ballot, which closes on 23 February.

DWP members have until 23 February to vote in a statutory ballot to signal their willingness to take strike action, after the department refused to tackle chronic low pay in this year’s pay offer.

Thousands of members have already told us they’ve voted. But to ensure that we beat the 50% ballot threshold, we need to keep pushing to make sure that we achieve a mandate for strike action.

Whether you work in the DWP or a different department, you can support the ballot by calling members during your spare time to check that they have posted their ballot paper, as is required by law.

If you or anyone in your branch would like to volunteer to call DWP members to help us win the ballot, please register for Movement - our new phone-banking system. (DWP members can expect a call from 0300 1316850.)

What DWP reps can do

During these final days of the ballot period, DWP reps from across the UK are going to be very busy.

As well as having face-to-face conversations with members to check if they've posted their ballots, they will be using Movement to make as many calls as possible.

They will also be recording interactions with members on the Organising Hub to ensure that, when we call people on Movement, we are only calling members who need a call.

And whatever the weather, they will be leafleting outside DWP offices to remind those who haven't voted yet what's at stake in this vital ballot.

There is a wealth of materials on PCS Knowledge that can be downloaded or used to support discussions with members. (Leaflets can also be accessed at your regional PCS office.)
