Wear Red Day 2025: Changing hearts, minds, and lives

PCS is proud to once again support Wear Red Day, taking place on Friday 17 October, as part of our ongoing commitment to anti-racism in the workplace and wider society.

Organised by Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC), the UK’s leading anti-racism education charity, this year’s campaign carries the powerful theme: Change hearts, change minds, change lives.

As SRtRC approaches its 30th anniversary in 2026, PCS celebrates its vital work using the power of sport to challenge racism and promote inclusion. From football stadiums to classrooms, SRtRC reaches thousands of young people and marginalised communities each year, helping to build a fairer, more equal society.

PCS’s anti-racism and anti-fascism (ARAF) strategy commits us to confronting racism wherever it appears - whether on the streets, in our workplaces, or in our communities. While PCS members continue to mobilise against the far right, Wear Red Day offers a chance to show visible solidarity and raise awareness of the everyday racism many still face.

Get involved

PCS encourages all members, branches, and workplaces to take part in Wear Red Day by:

  • Wearing red on Friday 17 October to show your support
  • Sharing photos on social media using the hashtag #WRD2025
  • Organising group selfies with colleagues to amplify the message
  • Downloading digital assets including red cards, photo cards, desktop backgrounds, and the WRD25 logo to use in your workplace and online
  • Registering for a fundraising pack to support SRtRC’s education work

Wear Red Day is more than a symbolic gesture - it’s a chance to spark conversations, challenge prejudice, and promote anti-racism in every corner of our union.

Celebrating Black excellence in football

SRtRC is also launching an exciting new initiative: the Black Footballer Exhibition. This mobile display celebrates the untold stories of Black players across Premier League and EFL clubs, including the England Lionesses. The exhibition will:

  • Highlight the contributions of Black sportspeople to British society
  • Empower young people to reclaim narratives and tell their own stories
  • Promote pride in diverse communities and the benefits of inclusion

Following a successful pilot with six clubs, the exhibition will expand to over 30 clubs from January 2026 and will be showcased in schools, libraries, youth clubs, and community centres - especially during Black History Month.
