What is the Tartan ARMsy?
If you’re retiring or facing redundancy, you have the option of joining the Scottish section of PCS’s Associate and Retired Members (ARMs) network.
ARMs offers services and information to PCS members who have retired, been made redundant or moved on to roles outside of the civil service and related areas.
The fifth biggest group in the union, ARMs allows you to maintain involvement with the union after leaving work and gives you a voice on issues that matter to you.
The ARMs membership transfer process is relatively straightforward. Transfer to ARMs can be done after the last day of service, but not before. Members receiving Employment Law Scheme support should remain full members until their case concludes but can apply for a subscription waiver due to income change.
ARMs members pay a subscription of £2.43 per month and retain most benefits of full membership, excluding the Employment Law Scheme and death in service benefits. They can participate in union activities and campaigns.
In Scotland, you will find a strong arm of the ARMs organisation. ARMs Scotland holds quarterly committee meetings open to members both in person and online, issues a quarterly magazine 'Tartan ARMsy', and provides information to branches.
