Young workers, now is the perfect time to make your voices heard

If you’re a young member looking to get more involved, make your voice heard, and help shape the future of PCS, now’s the perfect time, say Huz Patel, our national young members’ committee chair

Last weekend, the PCS National Young Members’ Committee (NYMC) was proud to be part of the TUC Young Workers Conference in Brighton, joining fellow young trade unionists from across the UK, including Unison, Unite, GMB, RMT, NEU, and more.

Representing PCS were myself and Nat Sherriff (PCS NYMC South West Regional Convenor). Together, we made our voices heard, moving motions on tax justice and an emergency motion on the current situation in Latin America. We also seconded motions on understanding workplace pensions, the housing crisis, protecting migrant workers, and the impact of unemployment on young workers. All motions we were involved with were successfully passed.

The conference was a fantastic reminder of the power and importance of young workers within the union movement. It provided a strong platform to raise the concerns of our members and share ideas from across our region.

Let’s keep making an impact together!
